My passion for children’s education began when the first of my two children was born. I found the only nursery rhymes available were the same outdated choices that were not relevant for what I wanted to teach my child. I began to write educational nursery rhymes to accompany everyday activities and stimulate his young mind with language and life lessons. From that day I knew that I was to be the Mother Goose for the next generation. The result was “Millennium Rhymes” which I self published in 2002 and sold 2000 copies to date.
In 2004 I joined forces with other talented writers and performers to create Yakaty Yak Story Players. Our troop performed more than 100 shows in childcare centres, schools and shopping centres throughout SE QLD. We generated over 500 members and through our interactive shows were able to demonstrate good values and morals through rhymes plays and songs.
The knowledge gained form Yakaty Yak led to the development of Adventure Players in 2007. The interactive aspect was the key element and it was a natural progression to change the model and actually have the children performing the shows. This revealed possibilities beyond imagination as it became evident the impact that the performances could have on children, whilst they were having fun!
In the years since Adventure Players I have dreamed of pursuing my entrepreneurial endeavours and not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about the possibilities. I know it is my destiny to play a role in educating the next generation.
My life goal is to provide children worldwide with informative, entertaining ¸fun, educational and appropriate content that will encourage positive self expression and participation for every child. This has lead me to the creation of Check This Out. This website will provide an opportunity for talented children and adults to have their stories, poems, pictures and videos published on the website for the world to see. With millions of children having access to the internet as well as the tools and ideas to easily make videos and upload their special skills and talents, Check This Out offers limitless potential.
